What is Powder Coating?
Powder Coating is the process whereby a powder coating is applied to metal electrostatically and cured with heat to ensure a firm protective coating for various types of metal including metals,cast iron, aluminum and sheet metal. .
Is this process metal only, or can other surface be covered?
Other surfaces can be powder coated but due to the heat process we recommend use on metal.
What is the advantage over conventional spray painting?
The most obvious advantage is the way the coatings are applied. With dry powder coating, solvents are not necessary to keep the liquid suspended as in paint, allowing for a harder longer lasting finish. There is also no pooling or dripping as you might see when liquid spray paint is applied. This is a appearance and time advantage. It should be pointed out that spray paint has the advantage when it comes to colours and certain changes in colour that may be needed from time to time. However, this is becoming much less of a problem; colour choices for powder coatings are extensive.
How long does it take to have powder coatings done?
Most of the projects, small or larger, take us about 24-48 to turn around. We try to accommodate rush orders where possible.
Is powder coating environmentally friendly?
Most, if not all powder coatings are non hazardous waste as defined by the various regulations. Disposal methods for waste powder are similar to non-hazardous wastes in most places with limited exceptions. In fact, powder coatings were actually designed as a result of concerns for the environment with solvent based materials. We ensure responsible disposal of all waste matter.
